"There are still seats available for the Osmonds Second Generation concert on Monday and Tuesday of this week," said Gail Bunker, concert manager of the Dixie State College Celebrity Concert Series.
Bunker said the musical group was first known as the Osmond Boys, but as they have grown up they now call themselves The Osmonds Second Generation.
"These guys are HOT!" Bunker added, and she is definitely right.
Amongst them they play the piano, saxophone, drums, guitar, banjo and harmonica - and of course, those marvelous voices, which are definitely heaven-sent.
Alex, David, Doug, Jon, Michael, Nathan, Scott and Tyler are the members of the group, all sons of 1970's pop star Alan Osmond and his wife, Suzanne. They have spent the past 25 years traveling the globe performing in more than 14 different countries to sold-out stadiums and arenas in the U.S., Europe and Asia. For many years they served as youth chairmen for the Children's Miracle Network, a charity founded by their grandmother, Olive Osmond.
During the 1990s, the brothers signed recording deals with both Curb Records and Epic/Sony in Europe and had three songs in the top 40 in the U.K. They have appeared on many major shows and networks.
The group was also voted Branson, Mo.'s, Best Young Group of the Year, three years in a row, being inducted into Branson's Hall of Fame. The brothers also appeared for two years on the North American tour of the hit musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
The musicians are known for their tight harmonies and their classic Osmond family blend.
Two of the brothers are pursuing solo careers. Nathan Osmond recently released his debut country CD, "Feels like Heaven," which he recorded in Nashville with the guys from "Lonestar."
David Osmond also just released his debut pop album, "Reflected," and was featured on "American Idol" in season eight. Previously, David has performed in St. George with the Southwest Symphony Orchestra.
In what is a compelling story, David Osmond was diagnosed several years ago with multiple sclerosis and has battled the disease.
"The last few years of my life have changed me forever," David said.
"Not too many people know this, but I spent a lot of time in a wheelchair due to being paralyzed, numb and compressed from the chest down."
The concert is a highlight of Celebrity Concert Series this season, and in addition to the concerts on Monday and Tuesday the musicians will be guests at a candlelight dinner Tuesday prior to the concert as they present a private concert and discussion on the Cox Auditorium stage.
All proceeds go to the arts and performing art scholarships at Dixie State College. Individual reservations are $75 and can be made by calling Bunker at 652-7994.
The Celebrity Concert Series is a community and college partnership that began in 1958 and has matured in distinction each consecutive season. Dixie State College has a history of sustaining and promoting the arts and is a viable factor in the continuing success of CCS, although financial support of the series is received exclusively from memberships, ticket sales, grants, donations and endowments.
